It could also be that I don't know what the hell I'm doing. Recorded video with my phone (Nokia lumia) and recorded audio with reaper then put them together in windows movie maker. It's pretty good but the video quality is crappy (those did you shoot the video with a potato comments are "hilarious"...) even in 1080. Also I'm a little paranoid about the audio perfectly lining up with the video. But yeah, should I get a better device to capture the video or what?
Ps. I tried to be not spammy so I didn't play my own stuff and played a bit of everyones favourite song
First rule of making videos- LIGHT. You must have plenty of light or else the image gets drowned out in image noise as the camera bumps up the iso to compensate. Get a lamp and point it directly at you. Get 3 lamps for even better effect. You can't have too much light if you're shooting in anything other than daylight. Secondly, try and get your camera to lock focus, usually by tapping the screen at the point your video will be focussed which will stop the 'breathing' effect of it focussing. Thirdly, don't cut your head off when making videos. I've recorded videos previously using nothing more than an iPhone to make a point that with the right technique you can get great results.
As far as your syncing goes, it looks fine but for better results, clap your hands 3 times within audible distance of both mic sets for a solid cue point. If you aren't using a mic for your amp or aren't near enough to register a decent clap, hold the guitar on your lap and hit the strings like a drum 3 times for a similar effect.
