This is something i'm working on at the moment. It's the first time quadtracked the guitars btw. I think it gives more body to the guitar tracks that way, but it is a pain in the ass to record.
This is what i have done:
So far i have only High/Lowpass filters on the guitar tracks. Cutting the lows to 80Hz and highs to 15000Hz. Rhythm parts are quadtracked, but the verse has only dualtracked guitars, just to make the chorus to pop up better. Rhythm guitars are hard panned L/R. Lead guitars are center and i've mixed them in the back, so they just add some colour in the back of the song.
Highpass 40Hz and Lowpass 8000Hz and a compressor. Then i've copied the same bass track to a new track and added a highgain amp plugin on it, to make it glue better with guitars.
Center and no EQ so far. I don't know where to cut atm.
I've added a master glue compressor on it and to be honest, i don't know how to use it. But it adds little more "power" to the mix.
Just the EzDrummer Metalmachine preset.
Any comments and tips?
