You know the sound I'm talking about, the bassline that literally sounds like a jungle. A ton of bands did this. Ratt, Tesla, Spinal Tap, etc. etc. etc.
I don't want regular modern metal bass, I only want sweet 80s jungle bass. Most glam jungle bass is probably a pick, since that is most glam metal bass, but I only play bass fingerstyle for philosophical reasons. Should I like, blend in a chorus'd bass sound and compress it to the same bus (I already bus two bass tracks, a DI plugin and some amp sim) for maximum jungleness?
How do you write jungle tom patterns? I know sweet rack tom/floor tom patterns are an integral part of a jungle bass moment, but should I pan them? How sweet should the 'verb be? How much reverb does a jungle have? Should I gate something on the kit for maximum 80s?
Here is just my bass sound with scratch drums.
Here is full mix.
I am craving this level of jungle bass action.
Active pickups with some treble boost and mid scoop. Tiny bit of grit from either a Gallien-Krueger 800RB or Ampeg SVT.
