Got a "new" (used) Macbook last week and have been installing programs like crazy to get this thing up and running for recording. Got Logic Pro X (which, thankfully, takes all my Garageband demos and imports them without a problem), then started reading about the AU's and VST's everyone is using for amps. I planned on getting Bias but after reading about LePou's stuff, I figured I'd do some digging around first.
Then I found I needed something to load IR's. I had used ReValver before for most of my stuff, but never bothered messing with that function. I now have pretty much every free IR that's out there, I just spent 2 hours listening to a 10 second guitar loop while I switched cabs.....fucking insane.
I'm just really blown away how they change the sound so much and really bring things from that blanket-over-the-amp sound to a killer sounding amp!
I imported a nearly complete demo tune where all the guitars were done with ReValver, switched them with LePou's Ecstasy and Soldano (I think?) AU's, and his Marshall, I think.....then started fucking with the IR's...GODDAMN!
I'm like a kid in a fuckin' candy store right now, wish I had discovered this stuff sooner.
It's amazing how much different the IR alone makes. I think sometimes it's more difference than the amp model itself.
And good luck trying all the different IRs and deciding on which one your going to go with
