Why should a band not act as a family? Run it like a business, treat it like a family. Donald Trump and his kids are doing just fine working together and every one reading this post knows the Trump name.
Donald Trump started with millions of dollars. Bands don't.

A band, like a job, should not have enforced emotional closeness. Rely on friends and family for that. If your band are friends, then by all means rely on each other; however, I would not force that on someone.

Also, "run it like a business, treat it like a family?" Are you seriously kidding me? Businesses are run for profit. Families are the result of emotional attachment. Mixing those two is a TERRIBLE idea, because either profits fall by the wayside, or emotional attachments do.

Too much focus leads to tunnel vision
Too much faith leads to religion
Too much knowledge leads to confusion
Too many guitar lessons lead to jazz-fusion

Truth. I've been in business many years with family and it makes things a lot more difficult. I agree with everyone else on the sound files also. Your music clips will not help you in this pursuit.

I mean, I'll let people play my guitars and I swear their fingers are made out of freshly fried bacon. I get my guitars back and I instantly have to clean and polish them. I think that's why I suck so bad on the guitar. I spend more time polishing them then actually playing them.
And don't even get me started on dirty strings. I go through that GHS Fast Fret stuff like its... well... bacon!

I think I have a conflict of interest going on.
