If I lived down there, I'd be worried about it from the perspective that these are my fellow countrymen, and they have no problems with trampling the civil rights of a high school girl

This doesn't directly affect my quality of life... so I'm not going to give myself the stress of worrying about it. Because stress has been clinically proven to adversely affect the recovery of cancer patients. And since I don't want to relapse, I don't let anything unimportant to me, get to me. I try to keep a zero-stress, zero-drama life as much as I possibly can

There's plenty of other people in this world willing to champion causes like these... have at it fellas! Its all yours!

Rog, I would think that someone in your position where you have a firsthand reminder of how transient life can be would be unusually sensitive to other people being unfairly told how they can and can't live their lives for things that really should not matter to other people. Cancer almost robbed you of the opportunity to ever see any of your loved ones again - now that you're in remission, I think you would appreciate them all the more for it, and would if anything have more sympathy for those who are being told, due to arbitrary moral codes, that they can't be with the ones they love. Hey, I've never had cancer, but I think it would be hard to come back from the edge like that and not have a really deep love for all the "good things" in life and all the possibilities each new day brings. Life is short - you know this. How then can you not see something like this and feel the pain of someone else living a short, transient existence and being told they can't be with someone they love because of someone else's archaic beliefs?

I mean, pain can either make you selfish and self-centered, or pain can help you relate to others and have sympathy for the pain in their lives too. I honestly hope that what you took away from your ordeal was the latter and not the former.

Thanks, Roger, for proving my point.
