Well, I had a chance yesterday to make it to bicas (local bike collective i mentioned in another thread) and I ended up coming home with a frame. Then, my mom gave me back a bunch of money I'd lent her that I never expected back, so today, I've started accruing other parts.
Frame is from a 1953 Chicago Schwinn Meteor Stepthrough. Scored it for $5 \m/. I was gonna refinish it, but its still got most of the Chicago Quality Scwhinn sticker, so fuck that noise.
It unfortunately (being an older american bike) uses a clunkyheavy ashtabula crank/bottom bracket set, and while this frame is 100% cruiser, I'm attempting to build it into more of a hybrid road bike . That means it needs to NOT weigh more than the dodge ram 1500 in the front yard that I'm trying to drive less. So, i picked up a truvative conversion kit, so I can A) use what the fuck ever bb/crankset i want and 2) not use a crankset that weighs as much as the fucking frame. One of these fuckers.

$15 shipped on amazon \m/
Going back in a few to score a seat/seatpost and the handlebars/clamp etc.
Gonna find an old motorcycle style headlamp and a 59 caddy taillight, slap LEDs in them, and hook them up (If I'm to be riding at night, I legally must lightify).
