I'm planning to build the top circuit on this page, but I'm struggling to find a 50mH/3A inductor. So, I can obviously use lower mH value inductors in series, but I'm wondering how important the actual current rating is in this circuit. I can get a 2.3A 50mH inductor, but would that be likely to blow or cause other damage? I'm thinking a lower current rating isn't a good idea.
usually i would warn against using multiple inductors in series due to series resistance.
However in this application it wont have any negative effect.
For future reference BLS electronics in the UK custom wind inductors.
