I have a '01 YZF600R. When I bought it, the only issue which is a minor annoyance is that even when in neutral, the engine cuts off when the kickstand is down. I can get around this by having a band hold the clutch in while it warms up, but it's ghetto and annoying to have to do so.
So after browsing and browsing I figured it was the neutral safety switch since the kickstand switch was obviously doing its job. Had the part for a while but with all the rain, I didn't have the chance to work on it until today. After much searching as the schematic showing the location of the switch wasn't the least bit helpful, I found the switch and replaced it. To my dismay, I still have the same issue.
My logic dictates that it isn't the kickstand switch. I can bypass that, but I know I'll regret it if I ever speed off with the kickstand down. Any ideas on what might be causing this?
I would have gone to the neutral switch, myself Is it possible that whatever linkage activates the switch is malfunctioning, rather than the switch itself?
Also, got a link to the schematic?
