So, as some of you may know I lent my motorcycle to a friend of mine who has his bike license, but lost his car and bike and had no mode of transportation. My bike was an old piece of shit with electrical problems, and I wasn't really using it because it wasn't reliable.
So, I went to a movie on Friday night with the lady, we're enjoying it, about 45 mins into it, the movie pauses, someone comes in and asks if I'm in the theatre. I go with the usher who tells me the police are trying to contact me. It seems that my motorcycle was in an accident. At this point I turn my phone on, I have a fuck load of text messages from my buddy saying the chain broke and he went down. He said he wheeled if off to the side of the road and went home to try and treat his road rash.
I go outside to wait for a cop, and on his arrival, he tells me the bike was fucking left in the intersection, not just in it, but in the middle of it, it was pretty fucked up, and my buddy took off. Witnesses said he had lots of road rash, etc, but he took off running. Then I read some more of the messages my "buddy" sent me, and he said his license was suspended until October...
The next day, he's talking to me, saying he's "still in shock" and that's why he took off... He said he had no idea what happened. I said "I thought you said the chain broke?" and his response was "I didn't stick around to find out".
Luckily, no cars were hit, or my insurance would be fucked right now. I just called the towing place, and they said it's undrivable, and that the towing fee was $300.
I'm not pissed that the bike is fucked, was an old piece of shit I wasn't using, I'm pissed that my "friend" didn't tell me his license was suspended (I had lent it to him the year before as well, I'm assuming he lost it in between then and now), and that he took off leaving me holding the bag. I don't think I'll recover the towing fee from him as he's down on his luck and you can't get blood from a stone. He claims he was in shock, but still had the wits to leave the scene, and then call a cab and go home...
I'm hopefully going to grab the bike tonight, I'll post pics. I'm assuming it's just scrap now anyways.
I assume he is paying the $300?!
