I'm about ready to drive the wife's Neon in the lake
It's a 2002 Dodge Neon with 140k on it really great body but it idles like crap. When I'm at a stop you can hear the RPM drop and start to chug (sometimes you'll hear a clunk clunk clunk when it's doing this under load), than it will slowly build back up. If I tap the gas pedal or put it in N or P the idle completely smooths out. And did I mention it's only getting about 200 miles between fill-ups.
This is what I've changed so far: Idle Air Control (IAC), Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), both O2 sensors, catalytic convertor, PCV valve, vacuum hoses and other rubber pieces. The previous owner put on a coil pack and wires.
Has it been tuned up lately? As in plugs, wires, cap and rotor button? Also sounds like the time could be out a bit. I didn't see that he change the wires maybe he wired its wrong?
