I just got an interview for a job about 100 miles away from me, but the salary is so huge I'll take the gig if I get it. Also, I got laid off in June so I'm a week or two away from getting a deli counter job anyway and beggars and choosers...you know that story.
So the question is, if I have to drive to this place to get the job, that will be 1K miles per week on whatever I'm driving. Assuming I'd get a new (to me at least) car for commuting only, would I be better off with a smaller engine for gas mileage, a bigger one for sheer longevity, or what? I would have considered a VW diesel, but they shit that bed too badly.
Thoughts? What would you all be looking at for a thousand mile a week commuter car?
Hondas and Toyotas will run forever. I put about 3500 miles on my truck in the past 2 weeks, and it doesn't miss a beat.
I don't know if this is an option, but once the weather gets a little more pleasant, that's perfect on a bike, so you could split the miles up a little.
