I have a MKIV GTI with 53k miles. It's a peppy car, and I want to make it faster, but putting $1200~ into exhaust, intake etc etc makes it something it's not. It's a FWD practical hatchback. So, I figure I could get a tune from APR for $500, get a guaranteed second off my 0-60, 8PSI peak to 16PSI, 6500 to 6900RPM redline, and around. 50/60HP/TQ. It's not detectable by VAG, not that I have a warranty. Has a bunch of other features I'd never use(race fuel, valet mode[its a fucking hatch bro]) but I figure this would be the most practical and true way to make the car faster without becoming one of the 1993 Honda Accord owners with a fart can exhaust, 24" wing, and shocker/hater bumper stickers.
I can buy it, plug t in, and program it myself.
Anyone ever tune a car? Thoughts?
