Into Week 5 of this season, we have 2 eliminations (still more than welcome to contribute!)

Still in the running are:
Iron1
scole
T Gobbs

Rules:
1) Submissions by end of play 8th of February
2) Even if noone can check, the spirit is writing a song a week
3) No rules on genre, you don't even need to do the same style next week
4) Must be a song, unless you have a very (and I mean the kind that is beyond the ability of mere mortals) good argument for playing the same riff for 3+ minutes it won't fly
5) Entries composed on a tascam or without drums, whatever, also welcome, this is about writing a song, not dressing it up in lipstick and a short skirt
6) If you don't submit, you're eliminated (but you can still keep on submitting anyway as practice, this way the competitives get to be competitive, and the less so inclined still get to join in).

We will not:
1) Make people feel bad about mixing skills by turning this into a mixtest competition, it's about getting a load of us writing to a deadline, this is about writing, not about how awesome your headless kiesel sounds through an axe fx with superior drummer
2) Make people feel bad about how well it's recorded
3) Spam thread with songs we've had lying around for ages or anything non relevant to this competition and it's rules
4) Discourage anyone from participating
5) Tell anyone they suck. Songwriting is a skill, you learn it, some people will be better, others worse, this isn't a pissing competition
6) Steal others work or ideas.

Not really done tinkering with this, but Garageband keeps crashing and when it does it loses files... so I've had to rebuild it from older saves three times already. In the event I have to start all over again, I don't want to miss the deadline.

I might actually be able to get something done for this week! Have gotten pretty far already.

Please don't listen too closely to the lyrics - they're complete gibberish as I can't write them to save my life.

That's some evil sounding stuff. ::metal:

Dig it. It has a new-Opeth-ish vibe. And don't knock the lyrics, Dio never wrote one in his life that made sense and man were they cool.

Glad ya like it. I think this is my favorite of mine so far.

Really dig the chord change from1st to 2nd in the opening rhythm. Sounds Awesome. I wish my harmony guitar takes sounded like this.
I can't write lyrics and wouldn't sing if my life depended on it so more power to you!

Awesome stuff guys!

Ended up having an hour and a half to write and record this thing. Couple of really janky parts, but it's in. let me know if you have any thoughts!

An hour an a half? I hate you

That was beautiful. My submission will be in tomorrow night. I want to re-record one double tracked rhythm and finish out the solo.

For some reason this reminds me a lot of that Chino Moreno side project 'Team Sleep' I can hear it with that guys break beatstyle drumming behind it.

I'm in. I wasn't planning on writing another power ballad but things went that way once I found the patch which inspired the opening riff idea. Reminds me of several different songs but mostly of Badland's Winter's Call and Steelheart's Angel Eyes. Lighters up!
