Seanbabs 12-14-2012, 06:17 PM Awesome man! Is there an iPhone app for this as well?
Maniacal 12-14-2012, 06:19 PM Not yet, it is still early days.
Right now I am writing 400 licks, exercises, riffs, scales, chords, arpeggios for the Android app.
As soon as the Android app is complete, it will be made available for iOS.
Maniacal 12-14-2012, 06:20 PM Heres a rough demo of the free version

Cool. I'll make sure to pick it up as soon is it comes out. I'll be playing 3 services each Sunday at my church starting in January with like 3 hours in between the last two so this would be sweet to have.
Maniacal 12-14-2012, 06:28 PM Good stuff. The advantage of using MIDI for all of the exercises if you won't need to be connected to the Internet to access all the lesson material. There will also be a Lick of the Week which will include a video on YT.
The full version will only be $4.99.

Next week will be a shreddy one
Orsusmetal 12-14-2012, 07:29 PM This is actually going to effect my decision as to which phone I go for next. Really love my Blackberry, but I want this app. So Android or Iphone next unless I can somehow get this for BB.
Maniacal 12-14-2012, 07:33 PM I won't ever be available for BB. Sorry.
Get an Android and you can have the full app within the next 3/4 weeks.
Orsusmetal 12-14-2012, 07:37 PM Lol I didn't think it would be. Guess I'll have to start looking at phones again.
Looking forward to this.
Soopahmahn 12-14-2012, 07:44 PM It's called Guitarmageddon?
Seanbabs 12-14-2012, 07:48 PM It's called Guitarmageddon?
It should be named "Shredophile" :jj:
Maniacal 12-14-2012, 08:41 PM Yes it is.
I am not going to name any future products "shred" because many of my older students (old rockers) won't buy anything with a name like that.
Also, this isn't an app just for shred guitarists. There will be sections on blues, funk, metal, jazz, rock... most styles.
For example. Lick of the Week will work like this:
Week 1 - Blues lick
Week 2 - Shred lick
Week 3 - Jazz lick
Week 4 - Rhythm based lick
Spectre 12-14-2012, 09:09 PM Great app!!!
Looking forward to seeing this grow.
Seanbabs 12-14-2012, 09:38 PM You are aware that I was joking, right?
requiem_guitar 12-14-2012, 09:45 PM Cool app man. I'll grab the full version for sure
Maniacal 12-14-2012, 09:49 PM You are aware that I was joking, right?
Well to be honest, I actually think it is a pretty cool name for an app.
You could have a really nice pedoshredguitar theme
reverselyhyper 12-17-2012, 05:50 AM pretty awesome looking. glad to see shred guitar catching on!

Maniacal 12-18-2012, 10:52 PM Hey,
I have just released an Android app on Google Play.*
It currently costs just $4.99. For this you get over 100 exercises, chords, scales and arpeggios, plus licks, riffs and backing tracks. There is a free version if you would like to try it first.*
You also get all of the updates. There will be 500+ exercises in the end!*
There will eventually be over 40 backing tracks on here too.*
You will also get every lick of the week update. It will go something like this:
Week 1 - blues lick
Week 2 - shred lick
Week 3 - jazz lick
Week 4 - random lick
All this for $4.99! It is incredible amount of material and is a great way to make practice routines.*
The app also stores the tempos you have been playing for each exercise, a very useful feature.*
If you want to try the free version, you can get it here:

Scott 12-19-2012, 02:16 AM I won't ever be available for BB. Sorry.
Get an Android and you can have the full app within the next 3/4 weeks.
Blackberry Playbook/Blackberry 10 allows you to port Android apps over pretty effortlessly, and with Blackberry 10 a month from being officially announced, you may want to look into that, since (if there are no problems with the port) you could have the paid version available at launch for blackberry 10.
If you have ads in the free version, that would still work as well.
Seanbabs 12-19-2012, 02:24 AM Shredophile for iPhone, plz.

ConnorGilks 04-20-2013, 12:45 AM I was very skeptical at first, wondering why I need anything more than a metronome... but I'm impressed. Might I recommend a couple things?
Firstly, being able to categorize your own favorites into groups would be handy. Put together your favorite sweeps in one category and your favorite tapping licks in another for example. Or one that involves licks you work on daily, and ones your work on weekly or something.
What would take this to the next level is the ability to put in your own exercises somehow. Because let's be honest - I'd rather work on my own licks than someone else'. Though I do appreciate that this would help me find new licks I may not have thought of.
And lastly putting in a basic metronome as well would be a good idea, especially if you can't do the previous suggestion (which I'm sure would take a lot of time and effort on top of what you've already done).
Maniacal 04-23-2013, 02:29 PM Thanks for the feedback. I will see about adding a metronome to the app.
We will be adding more favourite options in a future update.

Wahooo!
Hey, as a side note, please tell me you aren't REALLY giving up guitar playing (saw that announced somewhere else). Saw that and I just about lost it :nono:
Maniacal 06-12-2013, 03:38 PM Pretty much. I will record the licks and exercises for the app but that's it. I have now sold most of my guitars and will just keep the few I need for the app.
Cassidy 06-12-2013, 05:22 PM Ahh, you're 'that' guy. I messaged you on ss.org (my username there is LeeC) about your 8 string but didn't hear back from you. Did you sell that?
Seanbabs 06-12-2013, 05:30 PM If you don't need it anymore, I will take 3 units of your alt picking ability please.
briansol 06-12-2013, 05:46 PM Why would you just stop playing when you have all this ability?
fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

Well man, whatever your reasons, I wish you the best in the next chapter of your life. I've always believed that one should never force themselves to play if they don't want to. It's better to just put the guitar away and not touch it, even if that potentially means "for good." One day that fire may come back, so at least hang onto your favorite axe.

Oh Sorry. I forgot to reply to your message. I had so many messages about me selling my Black Machine that it got to the point where I just stopped looking at PMs. I should also state on here, I am NOT selling my Black Machine.
Currently one of the students has the guitar and is "very likely" to buy it. If he changes his mind, I will let you know.

That is the free app, which will only have a few new exercises etc added each week.
The paid app will eventually have over 1000 exercises as well as lessons on FOTB, stylistic studies etc.
This is still early days, once the paid iOS app is live we will be adding many new exercises and licks each week.
There are still some pretty challenging licks that will be on the app, like this one which seems to be throwing a few guitarists off:

fathead 06-13-2013, 02:08 AM iPad, click a beginner exercise, tab launches upside down.
Maniacal 06-13-2013, 02:13 AM Right okay. Is it all the beginner exercises or 1 in particular?
fathead 06-13-2013, 02:18 AM Randomly clicking any one of them causes same problem. When first opened program only the Levels section had anything in it. After reopening other sections now have exercises too. All have same problem.
Maniacal 06-13-2013, 02:23 AM Okay, that's odd. What iPad are you using?

Maniacal 06-29-2013, 02:10 AM You are fine, you got the second to last RTL2 that I actually want to sell. I will email you when I have posted them. Thanks

Anyone who has Guitarmageddon Free already, did the app update automatically today?
Lopez 09-23-2013, 10:27 PM Anyone who has Guitarmageddon Free already, did the app update automatically today?I'm new to Android so I'm not sure if I'm right or not, but I had to manually update it myself. But really excited!
Cancer 09-23-2013, 11:06 PM I have a dev question, and feel free to point to link if you've answered this already: how did you you build this app? Using Xcode, Flash, or other? I've been experimenting with Flash but I'm curious to know what other options exist. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I can't help you. It's a secret.
Just kidding, I didn't build this app. Basically I started building the app but then a guy from another guitar forum mentioned he may be able to help. It turned out he was clearly a far better developer than me so he ended up building it from scratch.
The iOS version was made in Xcode. In my opinion Xcode and iOS is the way to go.
Lopez 09-24-2013, 12:10 AM Did you get a notification regarding the update?Nope.
Maniacal 09-24-2013, 12:13 AM What device do you have?
Also, what are your thoughts regarding the app?
Maniacal 09-28-2013, 12:49 PM Regarding the PDFs of my books:
Okay, I am thinking the best way to sell this PDF is via email only.
I will be selling the 208 page PDF of Riff Training Level 2 for $40. This book marks 6/7 years of intense practice and discipline.
"Back in the day" I used the content of this book to significantly increase my technical ability. If I had this book when I was 16 I would be a lot better at guitar (and a better musician) than I am now.
Unfortunately I had a guitar teacher that taught me nothing but bad habits and left me with huge gaps in my playing that took me years to correct. This book will give you routines and exercises that, if done properly, will make you a far better guitarist.
If you want a PDF copy, give me a PM and I will add you to the list. If/when I get enough interest, I will then sort out payment and delivery.
This is book 2 of the series. Make sure you have a clear understanding of book 1 (RTL1) before you get this. Unless you are an intermediate/advanced player.
Thanks!

This is what Guitarmageddon Pro has over Guitarmageddon Free:
- Far more exercises, I believe GMF has about 30% of the exercises that GMP gets.
- Backing tracks, currently in MIDI but we may also add mp3 backing tracks later on.
- Specialist exercises, a new section that is soon to be released. Includes exercises for Flight of the Bumblebee, slap guitar, 8 string guitar, licks in the style of….
- Goal tempos for every exercise. I believe this feature is coming out in a few months. Every exercise and lick will have 3 goal tempos and a video demonstration of me playing each one. Great for motivation.
Bottom line, there will be far more content on GMP. Weekly updates will include exercises suitable for pretty much any style of guitar player, not just shredders. Where as GMF will only really get a sample of that content.
This app is the result of thousands of hours of guitar playing and app development. And all for a few dollars.
Because the app features MIDI and images, there is no limit to how many licks, exercises, chords, scales we can add to this. Eventually the app will have all the useful scales, chords and arpeggios too. And you can add any of this to your "Favorites" section to create any routine you want.
I should also add that the app will store all of your tempos for every exercise which makes it easy to keep track of your speed.
Pro iOS version:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/guitarmageddon-pro/id661657193?mt=8
I will update the descriptions for both apps soon.

Yeah, that sounds awesome! I am looking forward to the new licks and the goal tempos. I don't know what is coming in the next iOS update, but it would be cool to have some more spread out arpeggios. Ones with extensions that don't just repeat in octaves. Also, a section of phrasing would be very cool. Things such as arpeggios using jazz enclosures etc.
I am looking forward to the iOS updates! This is a very good product you have, and thanks for continually improving on it!
Maniacal 11-09-2013, 07:00 PM I am almost finished with the "Super Nerd Alternate Picking Play Along". This is broken down into 2 practice routines, you could easily turn them into 1 routine but it will take you 90 minutes to complete.
Part 1 works on difficult sequences, string skipping, combining subdivisions, rhythmic groupings with scales, blues/jazz/shred licks, FOTB and other practice pieces such as speed workouts.
Part 2 focuses more on coordination, riffs and endurance. The riffs will be blues, jazz and metal and will combine difficult picking passages with arpeggios and chord voicings.
I am going to charge a whopping £5 for each of these. Why? Because I feel like adding an extra wing to my mansion, and also because they have taken me about 200 hours to perfect.
Maniacal 11-26-2013, 03:09 PM iOS app has been updated, new exercises/licks added as well as 3 goal tempos for every exercise and new icon.
You need iOS 7 for it.

I have finally completed the first of my Level 4 workouts:
This 70 minute routine works on many of the difficulties associated with alternate picking. Inside/outisde picking, position shifts, subdivisions, speed, endurance etc.
This routine will serve as a great workout for you advanced players and a warm up for any serious guitar nerds out there.
Make sure you have mastered the Level 3 Advanced Picking Play Along before attempting this one.
This is the lead part of the workout, the rhythm workout will be out in a few weeks.
The workout is currently half price and can be purchased here:
