    You don't say.

Kind of an oddball suggestion... but, have you considered making a checklist of all the things you need to prioritize in this game, and maybe taping it to the edge of your screen, or otherwise affixing it somewhere so you can glance at it every once in a while? I'm not nearly in your league here, lol, but I think sometimes it can be really helpful to just have a periodic reminder of all the things you need to routinely check while you're doing something.

Things do get crazy very quickly when someone is micro-invading while you're trying to keep your resources up, and then BAM their full army shows up

I rarely get time to play, but when I get some regular free time to do so, I'll let you know!

AOE is simply too big and fast a game for something like that. It's pretty much all about map reading and hoping not to get caught when you take risks to get advantages.

And knowing how to effeciently manage both resources and military production.
Which is one too many tasks for me to handle

If I focus only on resources I can become super rich and have tons of buildings and shit. I guess thats the easy part anyway. So it's not much to brag about

There's a way to control a single team with two people... I think you just need to make the two players the same color/team, but then you could focus on resources and have a buddy focus on military/nation-building

Yeah I know I did with that with a friend once, because he doesn't know anything how the game works. Places miningcamps five miles away from the gold and makes the boar kill his villagers all the time XD oh well I guess I played just as shitty as he did 10+ years ago, and then I started watching Youtube tutorials about build orders last year and improved dramatically. But still not enough to make my brain work faster

Sometimes I like to set up a game with 7 enemies on Easy mode, and then take my time to slowly swallow them all whole, because sometimes it just feels good
