iPhone 12 and texting

Just an FYI...

I use a Samsung Galaxy, but my wife just upgraded her iPhone 6 to a 12, and one of my daughters upgraded an 8 to the 12. Both miss texts, and up to 50% of the time. I did a Google search on it after T-Mobile in the US said there was nothing wrong with my wife's phone,, but it looks like a LOT of people with 12's never get up to 50% of the texts that are sent to them.

So, if you are looking at getting one, do a little research on the SMS texting issue and possibly hold off for a bit, as Apple hasn't even acknowledged the issue yet.

I probably won't upgrade, my 8+ is still texting like a champ!

It is specifically an issue with SMS and MMS so if everyone is on the same apple eco system, it wont matter but cross platform and across carriers is a nightmare. If you have to upgrade then you may also need to migrate your family and friends to an alternative like WhatsApp or any of the other messenger services.

We're still running 7+s, but are discussing switching to 12s very soon - will have to take this into consideration before we do. The 7s are just starting to get a little buggy in very minor ways, but have yet to experience lost text messages...

If your family and most of your friends are on Apple devices and thus using iMessage, you would probably never experience it. I have had some group work with classes and we have had to stop doing group texts unless everyone is on iPhones.
