Can anyone confirm the rest of the album is unsullied?
I can confirm there is no ragtime. Everything he does is perfect.

Well. I'm far from being a Dream Theater fan and even I enjoyed that.

That's what I am saying. Very open sounding to anyone.

I listened to it on the plane ride back from Virginia yesterday and thought it was good. I didn't like Room 137, and I felt like At Wit's End was sort of a throwaway track, but that was after one listen, so my guess is it will grow on me. Definitely a step up.

Really? I enjoyed "A Wits End." I thought it was a fairly good ballad/rock song.

It was only after 1 listen, but I felt for the nearly 10 minutes it lasted not much happened though I'm sure that I'm missing something.

    I see you didn't defend Room 137

I listened to the various tracks that popped online Friday night. I'm still just "meh". I don't remember a single riff that gave me the same feels as anything from the first 6 albums. Mostly, his riffing now sounds like exercises from his Rock Discipline instructional video. The beginning of At Wits End kind of has some distinction. I'm too lazy to find it again but there was one song where I felt Mangini's playing was distracting rather than contributing to the song. Probably just have to accept the fact that their best days are behind them..

Well I’ll be damned; this album is really quite good. And what the hell happened with S2N? Did Jordan and John accidentally give Myung the spotlight? I didn’t think their egos could handle it! Definitely my favorite track.

The Astonishing was so astonishingly bad that even with unlimited data and Apple Music, I still felt robbed. This is definitely worlds better.
