"I" is one of my favorite sleeper songs. It's one of those songs that people never think of, but goddamn is it amazingly good. Especially this version:

    So live for today,
    Tomorrow never comes.
    Die young, die young,
Can't you see the writing in the air?
    Die young, gonna die young,
    Someone stopped the fair.

While Sabbath is definitely the band that historically defines metal, for me if someone was to ask me to play a song that defines metal I'd be throwing on Holy Wars. It's not my favorite Megadeth track or their heaviest one but the combination of lyrical imagery, riff centric guitars, Menza's drumming, and absolutely brilliant solos is what defines metal for me. Also the production on that album provides everything you can want from a metal album, especially if played thru the type of home stereo that was popular at the time.

Ditto, lol. I'd even go for the same song, as Churchill's speech at the beginning of Live After Death is still one of the finest album openers ever...
"The greatest power one may possess -- in any situation -- is simply not to care what happens.

"In fact, it's the only power, all others being a semblance and mockery of it. But you must also not care about possessing the power itself. So fuck it."

Well, "Master of Puppets" and "Holy Wars" already got mentioned, so I'll say "War Pigs" by Sabbath. I bought that album for Paranoid and Iron Man, but "War Pigs" is probably the best song on the album for the variety of riffs, lead work, and lyrical content.
