Was this the band who mimed along to Guitar Pro?

No, I think that was Rings of Saturn. This is the band where he recorded all his parts in half time and sped them up. It's also the band that was famously awful live on their first tour (guitarist/writer famously unable to play his own parts). It's also the band that is the one guy (currently singing) that keeps hiring full bands of hired guns who keep simultaneously quitting on him. It's also the band that's been teasing new music every few months for the last seven years.

Like there is a fat cheque on this gig.

I just admire his chops, being able to drop into this kinda stuff as a dep guy.

Didn't he used to pretend to play guitar in this band?

Sort of. It was his YouTube play-along vids where people speculated it was just too tight to be real. I think it turned out to be reamped guitar pro tracks or some shit

A shame, because compositionally I heard one track that I kinda dug and thought it was very well written and quite unique.

I think these guys got caught speeding up their playthroughs by like 30%. I think it was Rings of Saturn that did the Guitar Pro thing.

Yeah, Lucas Mann was the guy from Rings of Saturn doing the Guitar Pro crap. No idea why I remember his name so well
