Tygers Of Pan Tang - White Lines

Awful band name, great playing. Just a straight up good rock song.

The songwriting is pure 80s too - the actual tune is like 3 minutes long, followed by 2 minutes of chorus reprise and outro.

Legendary NWOBHM band. I would expect nothing less.

The band name is a Michael Moorcock reference, it sounds a lot stupider if you aren't familiar with his work. But late '70s/early '80s bands have a fair amount of stuff referential to it. He's one of my all time favorite authors, so I'm a bit biased, the original Elric sequence is unbeatable.

He's done plenty of lyrics too. Obviously a lot for Hawkwind, but he's definitely a massively popular "cult" type author. His writing makes it into metal, particularly the late '70s/early '80s British stuff, fairly often.

Exactly what a NOS hard rock/metal band should sound like.

Can't you see the writing in the air?

Not for years and years - the last album he was on was "Crazy Nights" in 1981. They've had like 400 lineups and broken up twice since then.

(Note: He *is* on the song I posted. )
