Loves me some Mastadon Interested to see Brahn sing that chorus while playing the drum part the same way.

Emperor of Sand was pretty good, but for the most part I can't help but feel they stopped trying after Crack the Skye.

Mastodon is kind of a rorsach test, where everyone seems to have differing opinions on when they stopped being Mastodon. I actually still love all of their output, but I will say that Crack the Skye was probably their Black Album (even though it's maybe my least favorite, besides Remission).

Checked it out, not gushing over it but I enjoyed it. Curious to hear how it sounds with the rest of the album.

They had a pretty sharp style-change from The Hunter on, for sure. But, that's the kinda shit artists do all the time

"Damned if you do, damned if you don't" - ever act ever, on the subject of changing their sound at all .
