Yeah, Phil X isn't on anything, he's just one of those people who is super fucking high 24/7 on having a positive attitude.

Phil is the yin to Eddie's yang. Like that Rick and Morty where the they get de-gooped and split into one super happy positive person and one garbage person that's made of slime. Phil X has to be as nice as EVH is fucking miserable.

Phil has some pipes too, and his version of the keybourd solo is great.

    5%: Les Pauls
    10%: Sweet amps
    5%: Setlists for Bon Jovi
80%: Cool Things About Eddie Van Halen
No, watch the Fretted Americana videos. At least 50% is every rock song since the 60s.

Totally fits, yeah. I'm sure there's more out there but one interview that stands out is his one with Pete Thorn, basically reminiscing about being stand-in/hired gun/weekend warrior all across dives in Canada for 20 years before he ended up on anybody's radar. A lot of those guys doing cover gigs get some flak (much of which is deserved) but the portfolio of music you need to know and the amount of times you need to work around playing songs written for a 5 or 6 piece band and playing it with three guys, yeah, you gotta have chops and ability to improvise to keep getting decent gigs.

Very true. There's also a healthy chunk of Jimmy Page worship in there too.
