Plus, out of interest, I wanted to see what gauges Mick Thomson uses. And apparently he used to use 11-58 and 11-64 sets for his drop B tuning, but now uses 11-56 D'Addario sets. In my old band, we used B standard (BEADGBE), and I used 59 or 60 gauge strings, while the other guitarist used 56 gauge strings. I thought his strings were a bit too loose, but he didn't pick as hard as I do, so they worked fine for him. So, how hard you pick is also something you might want to consider.

Also, one thing to consider is whether the nut can handle the gauge of strings you want to try. If it doesn't, you'll want to either widen the nut yourself or ask a guitar tech to do it for you. I play exclusively 7 string guitars (and one 8 string), both standard scale and baritone (I currently have a 27" scale guitar and a 28.65" scale guitar in addition to my 25.5" scale guitar), so the nut for the lowest string is already cut for pretty heavy gauge strings (I use an 80 gauge for F# in one of my guitars, just to give an example of really low tunings).

Ovation, I'm not sure if it's still made however. It was a good long while ago it was introduced and I can't imagine there was much of a market for it.

Hence why I said "I think." I'm pretty surprised that the Slipknot signature acoustic (that I had a very difficult time believing even existed, considering they very rarely ever used acoustics) was by Ovation of all companies, but considering how awesome Mick Thomson's Ibanez signature and current Jackson signature are, I have to imagine the acoustic signature was probably pretty sweet too.
