Technically yes, and the words for "tea" in East Asian languages generally come from the word "chai." For example, "cha" is the word for "tea" in both Chinese and Japanese (albeit pronounced differently). But at the same time, "chai" has come to be known as a very specific kind of tea, whereas "waza" is just an average everyday word that means "craft," "workmanship," and so on.

Still, this stuff is more common than you'd think. I sometimes see a street name in Japanese, then in English they write "XXX-Doori Street" even though "Doori" already means "Street," so it's "XXX Street Street." Or how there'll be a temple name, then say "XXX-ji Temple" even though the "ji" there already means "Temple" (For example, Ginkakuji, Kinkakuji). So it's "Temple Temple."

Quite. In German, See means lake. Yet in my work I have to write Lake Starnberg, Lake Ammersee, Lake Tegernsee so non-speakers get what I'm on about.

Then, for a linguistic nerdgasm, there's contrastive reduplication or double construction. An example:

For the purpose of this example, Chris was given a Chapman/Kiesel as a birthday. Someone sees him playing it and says "I saw Chris playing his guitar." An MG.org poster retorts: "That's not his guitar guitar, though!
