I actually dig the dynamic voice, but a 5 band independent EQ would defintely give you more control. The Triaxis doesn't sound exactly like a Mark amp, it's a bit more compressed and the bass frequencies are really different, but I love mine with my 2:50, and I used an older one years ago with a 2:90 and it was really special.

Having said that, I didn't like how it sounded at all plugged into the effects loop of either my JP2C or my Triple Rec. It needs the right power amp to sound right, but it does come roaring to life with the stereo Mesa power amps.

I miss my (Vince's) old TriAxis, too. And, of course, now that I have a 2:90, it's been hard to not just go get another one. But then, I think I'm really getting into the Studio Pre. I think a new set of tubes might do it some justice, as it's a tad looser than I'd like (great for getting sludgy, though).

I might be wrong, But I think running out of the fx send into the power amp tightened it up some, compared to the preamp out into power amp.
    I DOEN A BAD MURDA.

I need to play around with it some more, for sure! I nearly sold the thing because it was so in-your-face, but now that I've had some time with it, I think it's *that* Mk tone that I've always wanted

A friend has just bought a studio pre that I had to fix the tonestack was all screwed up. If the bass control was above 3 it lost massive amounts of volume and gain.

Nice easy fix just swapping a single cap in the tonestack that was shorting.

He's asked me about modding to to the IIC+ circuit as there are a few minor differences. It should tighten it up a bit. I'll let you know how it goes when he brings it around again. It's a fairly easy mod. Just a couple of resistors and caps.
