    Best cheap multi-effects unit?

Looking to get my wife a cheap multi unit so she can have lots of tone options to play around with. Since she’s only been playing since last Christmas, we’re not trying to get her pro level gear, but I don’t want her discouraged cause it sounds like crap.

After talking to MPexus this morning I went and checked out a Boss GT-1 today and liked it, but want to see what other options might be good in the sub-$200 market.

For context, she has a stock Jem Jr (Ibanez Quantum pups) running into a Blackstar ID:15 TVP. She primarily loves metal, but does also like more classic rock and 80s stuff.

Recommendations? Preferably with Youtube links, cause I live to kill time watching Youtube guitar videos.

Digitech GSP1101, hands down. Scored mine for $190 I think, did the beta upgrade, and it's a great unit to just plug into and go. There's software patch editing, user cab IR's, etc.

Does it have to be new? It's collecting some dust but I still have one of these..

I half agree. GSP1101 or Lexicon MPX-1, MPXG2 if you can go rack. If it needs to be a floorboard, Boss MS3s are incredible and can be found used for around $300.

If you gotta make it all-in-one, then yeah get an old POD HD500X.

If you can go for a separate rack and controller, then the GSP1101 is also great.
