    You're right. Doing a neck bend is far worse.

    Especially if they bitch about how double locking trems are bridges for poseurs because Led Zeppelin never needed double locking trems and then proceed to completely ignore the double locking trem that could easily do the thing they want and make grunting noises while physically exerting themselves in an attempt to crudely bend the guitar neck like Paul Bunyan hopped up on PCP.

    Thankfully most people that play metal don't use it as a "technique". But a lot of older rock guys and country guys will still do it.

    Michael Schenker and Slash both do it, it's not unheard of for more modern players to do it.

    The sole appeal of it is I guess it makes you kind of look "cool" and "badass".

    In addition to neck bends Michael Schenker, as we've already established elsewhere, also thinks uncut string ends are badass.
