    New amp !

    Hello

I'm searching for a new brutal 100W head for modern metal tones.

At the moment my shortlist is:
    Driftwood Purple Nightmare
    Engl Savage MK2
    Engl Powerball 2
    Diezel Herbert MK3
    Peavey Invective
    Revv Generator 120
    Revv Generator 100P

I need a lof of gain without the use of drive/boost pedals!

    Features i will appreciate:
    2 channels. Clean and distorted.
    Low wattage mode.
    Presence knob.
    Noise gate.
    A good clean sound.

I favor the the Purple nightmare. It comes with a great list of features.

You've got a wide range of different sounding amps there. I recommend watching this, figuring out which amp gets you close to the sound you want, and then figuring out whether the functions suit your needs. You may be able to use external units like RJM to add missing functions if your chosen amp doesn't have everything.

There's a massive range there, but given your choices and your location, I'd say either the Purple Nightmare or Herbert. I've got a lot of play time in on the Purple Nightmare, and a good chunk in on a MK2 Herbert, and the MK3 is supposedly better still. Purple Nightmare is definitely your best bet here IMO.

If you were in the US, I'd say a JP2C, even though it doesn't have a gate. Given where you are, listen to Ant.

The Armored Sentinel is getting a lot of hype in the metal groups I'm in, and it has both a boost AND a gate built-in.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your answer.
Does the sound of the purple nightmare compare to any well known amp? Just so I can get an idea of how it sounds.

I'm personally a big fan of the ENGL Savage.

Either the Engl Savage or Diezel Herbert. German amps FTW.

The savage is a great amp, but I don’t need four channels.
