NAD - Drifted from blues back into something a bit heavier

I'd been fooling around with blues and like it very much but found myself pushing the amp (a Supro 1970RK) to beyond its wheelhouse. I was inching more toward a grind and grit that even a decent pedal couldn't produce in that amp. Heavy distortion, fuzz, etc., just made a great amp sound like shit.

And Black Sabbath, and the desert sounds just seemed to call to me.

Lusting after one of these for a while, I found a Blackstar Series One in 50W on the local market and snapped it up. I spent the last couple days getting a cab, leads, etc., to get going. So far, so good. With the built-in attenuator, I can dial it all the way down to 5W if I want to but I tend to stay around 20W.

A TS9 pushing the crunch channel is where I find myself. I also picked up a Black Arts Toneworks Crown of Horns which is essentially Stoner Metal in a box. On the warm clean channel, it just produces instant lovable sludge.

Words I didn't say hurt my feelers... but this is my safe space.

Yes. It's a 2013 Fender American FSR Rustic. It came with a brown anodized pickguard and single coil pickups. I still have all of that equipment, but I installed a Pearly Gates Tele humbucker and a Pearly Gates neck in it. I liked the brown pickguard so much that I ordered a bare aluminum one for the humbucker and primed/painted it to match.

Ha! I actually bought that used online. It caught my eye - it's a Get'm Get'm strap. It's the old style and old logo.
