    zakk and chorus

I know Zakke Wylde uses a chorus pedal to get his tone, so i bought a chorus pedal once and i was trying to get a grip on how he uses a chorus pedal and use it for a metal tone and I spent a lot of time adjusting the pedal and turning knobs but i just could not get a grip...does anyone know how to use a chorus pedal along side achieving a metal tone with this kind of pedal?

Very subtle. In the FX loop of your amp. Again, and I cant stress this enough, very subtle. Medium depth settings, slow rate, and like a 25% mix, at most.

Which one did you get? Might help us help you dial it in.

I've never liked chorus in general, but I should give this a try. I always feel like chorus is nice on a clean sound, but it robs me of UMPH when I start my chugging fun happytime.

Turn everything down to 0 then start working the knobs up. Don't get confused by Zakk using a Rotovibe over a chorus (or both), he's used them both probably equal amounts over the years.

I normally go in the effects loop as well, but in the case of Zakk, it was in front of the amp.

Man, with all the questions you're asking about pedals and effects... I mean, you have a Katana with all of that onboard. You should really consider getting a simple, small tube head / amp with an FX loop and experiment from there. From scratch, you know? It just doesn't make sense to have so many questions about external pedals and effects when the purpose of the Katana is to have it all integrated. It's like having an automatic transmission car and wanting to drive manual.

Early Zakk was Chorus on 24/7. It was also a Yamaha SPX chorus, which is supposedly pretty hard to emulate. First 2 Zakk-era Ozzy albums were drenched in that Yamaha SPX Symphonic chorus. I think after that (biker Zakk), the Chorus is more of a live thing that he'd run in front of 2 amps at a time to get that stereo spread.

Also just dial in your Katana, it's perfectly fine.
