    ENGL Savage's can be found for a $1000.

    But you could get a EVH 5153 50 Watt 2nd version for that too. Buckethead was using those when I saw him live and he was ferocious with them.

    Call me crazy, but I always found the Savage, despite it's name to be too polite... I guess refined is more the correct word? I dunno, it never did it for me. Also, shameless plug but I've got a Triple Rec up for a grand.

    Diezel D-Moll is the ticket mate if you can find one. That, or an EVH 5153. Failing that, you can probably find a Dual Rec around £1000.
