I'd be interested in the BOM too. I saw a YouTube video of you building yours, at least I'm pretty sure it was you, you went with a PCB eh? Did you etch it yourself or find one to buy?

Also, are you using LDRs or relays for switching? Finding good LDRs is getting to be a bitch these days.

I can see that being cool to choose everything because Ive done that befor but if I wasnt someone with that background the kit would save me some headaches. I guess it also depends on how accurate you want to get, in that case a correct kit is the way to go.

The thing Im trying to remember is do they offer the Heyboer transformer?

Edit. Is that even the right one?

    Free... time? wtf is that

Also, I'd love to do something like this, too.... but wondering if I need a full kit, or just a preamp? How much of the SLO vibe is just pre, or pre+power? Considering I've already got a pair of tube power amps, and just building a rack preamp would be less time, and maybe easier to add mod switches

I'm thinking the sound would be there but the feel might be a bit different depending on your power amp. In the future I'm going to get this:

    https://www.musikding.de/Anvil-Tube-Preamp-Kit

which is based on the SLO with a couple mods I believe. MIDI switchable too. Only crappy thing is you have to source your own transformer since they only provide a 230V transformer with it. I e-mailed them and you can save like 30 Euro by getting a kit without a transformer, and I found this:

    https://www.antekinc.com/as-05t280-5...v-transformer/

Which I believe should be good, has close to the same values.

You could make a 5150-SLO hybrid!

That's all true, but I don't think there's any fun or cork to be sniffed in hand picking components for the power supply or the effects loop, for example. The purpose of the kit would be to get the boring shit, the chassis and the PCB out of the way, and you can tweak/swap components in the tone circuit to your hearts content. Ymmv
