Watched the Mesa demo and the instrumental part of Ola's, and I'm not really hearing anything that any other good high gain EL-powered head does, an EL-powered Rectifier included. What makes this one cooler than a Recto with EL34s or a Stiletto, for those of us who don't care about onboard speaker emulation?
1.) The Stiletto doesn't exist anymore.
2.) No "regular" Recto I've heard with EL34s has this voicing. I suspect this has the TC100 transformers.
3.) They revoiced the preamp so it's tight without the boost.
4.) It's simpler and lighter - these are actually attributes people who are gigging (well, not during COVID, but..) are looking for.

the mesa video sounds great. will be watching the brola video after lunch.

seems like a nice return to form for them. a lot of their newer amps have been pretty uninspiring for me.

now they just need to make a rack preamp version so i can keep using my strategy power amp for more rando mesa gear.

This better be featured on the next Dream Theater record.

I was looking forward to Mesa taking over the world again.

YES. Your video sounded incredible. Sounded like Dead Heart in a Dead World & Train of Thought at another point.
