Unpopular opinion on this board, who the fuck is George Lynch? I've been into rock, metal and guitar for 30 years and I have no idea why he's on the first page of every ESP catalogue.

He was also the first American endorser for ESP, which they needed to break the international market. I guess ESP owe it to him.

Sykes wrote a ton of cheesy shit but had amazing chops and vibrato so we all respect him. Lynch is the same way. If all you've heard is Dokken, his solo instrumental stuff is definitely worth a listen. Jump to 1:30 to skip the intro.

That's my point, I've not heard anything. Pretty much every other well known guitarist I've at least heard or know of in some context, somehow. I don't know anyone who references him, I don't know any folklore about why he is where he is, literally not a clue. And I'm pleased to see in this thread it's not just me being ignorant.

Plenty of us old guys remember. I remember the album he was on with Tony McAlpine and a bunch of monster players, he had brushed up at MI to be ready, that album shreds face.
