2) Depends what you are trying to do, Metal Zones can work for certain tones boosting (Cannibal Corpse for example) but Bad Monkey/Tubescreamer is going to be better for getting a "standard" boosted tone
confusing as fuck on the gates, generally opinion everywhere I look is split between the decimator and the NS-2. i'm going to have to flip a coin on that one.
any particular reason why you prefer the deci stu?
The Decimator is the best one I've tried. Essentially it lets the most tone and dynamics through without making everything feel "choked" when you play. When I had one I set it to a point where it would let feedback through, but cut down on fizz.
I was borrowing a powered Gator Pedalboard from a friend, but he needed it back, so I went to guitar center last weekend and bought the Pedaltrain pt-2, PP2+, George L's and Vox wah.
My New Pedalboard:
Pedaltrain pt-2 w/ ATA case, Voodoo Labs PP2+, George L pedal Cables, Livewire Elite Instrument cables, Boss Tu-2 Tuner, Vox V847a Wah, Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer, Electro Harmonix Big Muff, ISP Decimator, Livewire Amp Footswitch (Valveking Rig), Line6 Amp Footswitch (Bedroom practice / Travel Rig), Altoids Container (Dunlop Pitchblack Jazz Tortex pics 1.14mm)
The silver box is a combination channel switcher and buffered loop switcher. I put it in the Mini Recto effects loop, and the delay and clean boost in its loop.
What speaker is in that cab? I'm considering getting a 1x12 down the road and was looking into the Mini Rec cab to match the amp. Currently using my Vader 2x12, so having a smaller cab that I can hold in one hand sounds sweet for jam sessions.
just picked up an MXR Carbon Copy and a Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble. I tried them out at Guitar Center and compared them to the Boss CH-1, DD-7, DD-3, and a few others. But it took so long to get them installed on my board that I haven't had time to even play them through my rig yet.
I dunno, some sort of Peavey Scorpion or whatever they called them. It actually sounds pretty damn good; nice lower mid girth. I thought the Mini Recto can was far too boxy sounding.
It's awesome in the loop! I had it out front, and the gain from the pre-amp seems to completely change the character, in a neg way.
The effects are great, too. You can see my settings... I have it set to just add some flavor of time-effects when the amp is running clean. Switched to OD, you can still hear the effects, but only when you stop, or try anything staccato.
My Christmas present to myself - a Flashback x4 - finally came in the mail today. It was supposed to come last week but, appropriately enough, got delayed.
Anyways I re-arranged my board to fit this monstrosity on there and this is what I got. Finally devised a way to mount my power supply under the board to free up some room (I have the Dunlop brick and the pedaltrain brackets only work with the Voodoo Labs and PedalTrain power supplies), so I still have enough space for another pedal or two now. :yesway:

I never used a ton of pedals because 1) they cost money and 2) I don't know how to use half of them anyway. I'm also pretty quick to evict pedals that I find myself not using with the band.
Also before I had a car I had to take public transportation to a lot of gigs and fuck hauling an enormous, heavy pedal board around on the subway.
I kind of wish I had a little more room so I could fit the footswitch for my 5150 on there but oh well.

I have it in front right now, but that's mostly because I've just been dicking around with it at home through my iPad/laptop. When I use it with the 5150 I'll most likely put it through the loop.
I'm just about to start working on my pedalboard, though it's going to be huge as it's got to fit my HD500 on it, plus an additional expression pedal, a Decimator, possibly my Pitch Black (though I might just stick with the built in tuner on the Pod), plus a powerstrip. It'll also need room for an A/B switch and a G50 wireless receiver for the future. I'm starting with a 55x77cm Ikea Gorm shelf, not sure if I'll actually cut it down or not.
Yeah tell me about it. We've got a 20 minute song that needs most of those at some point. We're planning to record it sometime this year and I'm scared...
I'm selling my diamond memory lane jr and carbon copy to fund the empress superdelay I'm getting this week. Will post what the board looks like after that (less crushed cables)
