Why would the Kemper require a signal from a head and cab then? Seems a bit counter-intuitive when their biggest competitor's product doesn't require a signal from a real amp.

That guy's looking to re-amp his dry Tele recordings through an existing profile on the Kemper and record the result, not profile (or 'tone match') a recorded tone. Again, not saying it can't be done, but that discussion is for something different.

Yeah, I've been having a really hard time tracking down online whether it's possible to tone match from pre-recorded. It's not a huge deal if not as primarily I just want to upgrade from my XT Pro to get great tones at home. I figured it probably was either way given this guys videos:

Thanks for the advice, been taking a look there already but holding off until I get my serial number.

Still blows my mind that it's possible to seperate the cab when you're profiling the sound as a whole. I'll definitely be sure to do that though.

Went for the Rackmount in Black. The toaster would have been fun but this is going to live in my studio so it can go in a rack with all my other gear.

Well, you could always profile your Diezel

If you want, I'm happy to meet up sometime if you wanna grab some 5153 profiles, or even for the hell of it profile my fucked up cab
I'm so metal I shit bats
