I actually think that the "6/6/6 setting is magic" thing is a bit of a myth to be honest. There is some truth to it, especially in regards to the resonance control if you are using a Mesa OS cab, but when I was running a 5150 it was more like, "As long as the knob is somewhere from 4-6 it should be fine, actually, they sound fine/the same pretty much anywhere"
I don't think I could tell the difference between the 6/6/6 setting and everything at noon to be honest. Or 5/4.5/4.75.
It is dependent on cab though. Especially the resonance control, if you are running a Mesa Recto OS 4x12. They aren't really tweaker amps though. You don't really have to fine tune them. You can just leave it on whatever it was on when you bought it and you'll be good.![]()
