Lava Cables (solder less, cuttable cables)

These things are great. I despise having to get my soldering iron out, and the installation was quick and easy. I just wish their packs came with more ends. Their packs come with 10 ft of cable, but only 6 sets of ends.

George L's are WAY simpler to build

I have the sound off, and watching the video, I thought he was making a standard soldered cable to show how much longer it takes

I've heard complaints about George Ls slipping or not always working. Have you had a better experience with them? I've seen a lot of boards online recently that had lava cables and the installation leaves nothing to chance in the connection. So I went with those instead, even though they're a bit more complex than George Ls.

Oh and my soldering iron definitely sucks. Good thing I only use it about once a year

Every so often, maybe 10% of the time, the pin that makes the hot connection won't seat very well. So, you literally just unscrew it, cut 1/8" off the end, and screw it back in.

Does it need to be *that* fast? Eh, not necessarily. I suppose I like the simplicity of the design.

I also noticed that those Lava's have a solid core, so I assume they are primarily for pedalboards, where cables won't be flexing much?

Yep that's correct, Once you bend the cable into shape I wouldn't re-bend it. They're pedalboard or in-rack only. I just wish they came with more connectors! Buying extra connectors online is almost as much as buying a new pack with the cable.

This is the truth.. got the Hakko listed above and it is the tits! Removing the solder from the back of the pot literally takes seconds.
