    I honestly don't have a problem with the high strings sounding too shrill on 26.5" necks, you might get a bit more treble but nothing that is too uncontrollable or can't be dialed out in some fashion. That said once you start getting closer to 30" or so it gets a bit ridiculous but you're also probably down-tuning everything at that point or not focusing on leads as much at that scale.
