BC Rich I've never seen before, what is this?

I played a BC Rich Thunderbolt (H-H strat copy) at a local store. Really nice 22fret strat style with a maple neck, black body, and white pickgaurd. The neck plate says Japan. Headstock is unpainted and buzzard style.

Anyone know anything about these? I think I might scoop it up, just wondering if anyone has any links to info on it so I can geek out a bit before committing more money to gear!

I did google some Thunderbolt and found "THunderbolt III" and "USA ST" guitars that look similar, but the neck plate and and headstock seem a little different (I don't remember the one in the store having the "III" written after the word thunderbolt).

No idea, but there's lots of crazy stuff floating around out there from the end of the Class Axe era of ownership in the early '90s.

No info, but there are some really weird ones out there like these, that I would love to own:

Looks like the exact same neck, just on a black strat body. 2 hum as well. The neckplate does not say anything but Japan on it. Looks similar to the small neckplate on the old Japanese kahler NJ's.

There's always the possibility it's just a BC Rich parts guitar, too. When that factory sold out the parts went everywhere. I had a parts guitar that was a Gunslinger neck on a Sustainer mahogany body that was awesome.
