I've probably exhausted this story already but it reminds me of a sales training course I took, like, 15 years ago. Was something about corporate culture at the time but it was basically sales person empowerment 101, and they were telling sales people basically how much more important they are than anyone, even the customer. So they had the sales person actually ask the customer things like "well, are we going to do business today or should I move on so we don't waste eachother's time" and stuff like that. I'd do mixers and run into people left and right that clearly got their training from the same place, and they all spoke with a huge chip on their shoulder and it was a HUGE turn off.

Something about the Gibson machine where as soon as someone goes through training, they come out the other end like "okay, so basically we're proceeding like we've never done anything wrong and never will" and they all sit around in a circle and whiff eachothers farts.

It's becoming evident that the guys who still worship Gibson are cut from the same cloth as guys that think that botoxed, bleach-blonde instagram models with vapid personalities are a perfect 10. It doesn't matter if other brands are built better, play better, sound better, and are more reliable...this one's a Gibson, bro!

Along those lines, a new Les Paul is becoming as much as a mid-life crisis splurge as a Corvette, Harley, or trophy girlfriend.

Corvettes are awesome, but I totally see the Gibson/Harley thing and have thought that for a long time.

If they want to protect their brand they should start by investing in decent quality control, no?
