I always wanted one of these when I saw Alex Skolnick playing that glorious solo in that "Souls of Black" music video.
I remember it clearly being the first solo I ever wanted to learn on guitar. Needless to say, I did not achieve that at the time.

    Hopefully, some day soon. Haha.

But anyway, I came across a guy who had a 1989 Ibanez 540SLTD. I know Skolnick only had two humbuckers in his but this is the closest to it if I recall with the paint job. Because I don't think his was a production model? Unless someone has some info? The crazy thing is someone put a Dimarzio in it and sounds amazing! I love this guitar and weights a fairly good amount for a S-Series. I know it's made a Mahogany. Such a unique tone for Ibanez. I'm surprised this guitar is not more popular.

Anyway, hope you guys enjoy. My arm is continuing to get better and this guitar fits me very well.

    God Bless you all.

    Love, love, LOVE Saber bodies.

Don't know exactly about the Skolnick one you're mentioning but this LA shop 540P Ibby that Skolnick owned and used recently sold on Reverb so maybe the one you're thinking of was another LA Custom shop build.

This one right there and yes I saw that. That 540p looked pretty tough. Apparently, he had a "Practice What You Preach" one too.

    Hell yes he did:

I'm still in awe of that one and it's the reason I have my 540P today. I think Alex said at some point that he still owns this one..

    I wouldn't doubt it. It's a wonder Ibanez doesn't re-release those guitars. I bet they would sell.

The S series does need some 'Genesis collection' revival. They'll sell better than the short lived AR Genesis line but probably won't have the longevity of the RGs. I mean the current S line has little to know substantial upgrades, which is a shame really.
