I ordered this back in December, originally for estimated June delivery but Suhr was a little behind schedule so it came into Matt's Music last Wednesday. I picked it up Thursday night, promptly left town Friday morning, and am only getting around to posting this now. This is from the pictures Jay at Matt's sent me when it arrived:

I haven't had a ton of playtime on it yet, but my VERY early impressions is I got a good one - this guitar is unusually, surprisingly resonant. I don't know if it's the chunk of wood or the Suhr Thornbuckers but I was worried this would be darker than I like (mahogany body, quilt top) and it's definitely not - in fact at first I was concerned it might be too bright but I'm warming to the pickups.

I'll have some soundclips and/or video up at some point, but here's some guitar porn for now. :yesway:

Pretty cool, but I feel like the "flamed top guitar on a leather couch at a ~45 degree angle" shots were a little uninspired.

It's 2019 Drew, we don't have to make all NGD photos adhere to the djent instagram standard.

If you go to Keisels instagram right now, I bet like, 90% of the photos feature at least two of the three elements in the djent trifecta of "leather furniture/jaunty angle/flame top approved lighting and exposure settings".

I was just thinking the other day about that one dude who showed up on SS totally new to the forums, and posted the O.G. "it's not even here yet" picstory where he was waiting restlessly for days at the window for the then new xiphos 7, and then like left a month later. Now early posts are just impatient, rather than sharing any sense of longing with the reader :/

Sorry guys. You wouldn't have liked this picstory anyway, it was mostly me navigating Boston rush hour traffic to drive 16 miles in less than 1:40, and failing.

Well they offer a couple profiles, but I asked them to recommend me the closest to a modern Strat profile, and they came back with their Modern Eliptical 0.78-0.83 with an 1.687" nut width. Feels about spot-on to me. Suhr made upscale strat-style guitars and John did a stint in the Fender Custom shop, so "Strat-y" is probably about the right area.

Thank YOU, guys! Yeah, it's just an oddly good guitar, just way more alive and resonant than I expected. It handles gain well, but seems to sound fuller and bigger at lower gain levels than I'd expect, for this, which for a guy like me who probably uses less gain than you'd expect on a metal board, is kind of a huge perk.

I still need a free night or weekend to shoot some video with this, it sounds HUGE.
