Humbuckers. Traditional singles have rod magnets for the pole pieces.

That's just not feasible with active pickups, since no one manufactures them like that. It's barely feasible with passives; the builder basically has to custom order pickups from someone willing to build them to his exact dimensions, or build his own pickups. Everyone does multi-scale a little differently--bass scale, treble scale, and the fret where they meet--making for no standard pickup shape.

Visually, the parallelograms look cooler, but I'll take the practicality of a rectangle all day long. If I don't like the pickups, it makes swapping them easier.
I meant this exactly. Didn't know those words so it was hard to explain. Sorry about all that

I have zero use for a multi-scale seven string, but that's a cool looking guitar

I think I described it wrong... like this pickup in a way. EMGs in some cases where bass pups used on 7 and 8 strings because for one reason they didnt have to be lined up as much, I imagine the Fishmans may be similar in that regard.

Ah, that would be "blade pole pieces". Yes pickup jargon sucks.

I too, lucked out with a Legator. Arrived in perfect condition with an amazing setup. I'd be apprehensive about paying full price for a brand new one, but at the price I paid it's a great instrument.
