    Perhaps a low profile/lower pole height tuning head would solve it? Is the headstock flat, or does it tilt back?

    You could also install a FR string retainer that would change the string angle coming off of the nut:

    I'm not a luthier though so there are probably more correct ways of fixing this.

    The nut slots probably need to be a tad deeper. Cool looking guitar, though.

    Also, the ergonomics of Jackson Vs are very different from Gibson-style ones. Even Crooks' 24.75" KV2T has my hands sitting in a different place than Gibson's Vs do.
