    I hadn't either until this one. My bass has a pau ferro fretboard, which I've always liked. It's a lot like maple tonally, but doesn't need a finish, like rosewood. Feels even better than it looks.

    And it's sexy
    I've heard that Pau Ferro is the middle ground between rosewood and ebony It's more like maple you say?

    Haven't spend enough time with either maple or ebony to say for sure, but it's a nice hard, snappy wood compared to rosewood.

    Soulmate uses pau ferro as their standard fretboard wood. I wouldn't mind trying one out

    To be fair, the strap's set for me, and I'm a little taller I think, so it doesn't ride so low on me. But really, a Tele just feels right a little lower.
    I play my Tele quite a bit lower than I do my V.
