    Lower height single coil?

Since I’ve started playing my 91 540SLTD again after Elysian saved the tone with the Trident II humbucker, I’ve noticed how much I never noticed why I prefer HH setups over HSS or HSH setups.

When I really dig in, the tip of my pick hits the top of the single coil. Since there’s no height adjustment on it, and I don’t want to take it out and have the Sabre look all ghetto, I’m trying to think of some out of the box way around this.

So, do low-profile single coils exist? I’m a humbucker guy so forgive my ignorance of single coil pups...

    If not, any other ideas?

You might try a Lace Sensor. No poles.

Cut the screws. I've done this on some of my old Charvels and Ibanez S guitars. I always have the middle pickup lower for that reason.

Will definitely look into that. I'm guessing I can find one used on the cheap pretty easy.

I pulled the springs out entirely and it's definitely better. Thanks. Still hit it a bit, but not nearly as much. So maybe this route, in combination with a Lace or some other lower-profile pup will do it.

DiMarzio single coils come in different height dimensions, and not all will fit in the middle slot of an HSH Ibanez that has a trem route in the back. Hopefully these help

I mean, I'm only half joking. Just knock'em down. You won't affect the performance of the pup too much. At least, not that you're worried about it seems
