    A lot of temperature control soldering irons are a lie, i forget what you need to look for, but it needs the right number of connectors to the soldering iron, some of them just use guess work.

    I like digital ones, and on top of that, get some different tips too when buying.

    After that, it's just all down to practice, patience etc.

    Also, pro tip: NEVER EVER check the iron is hot with your tongue. You will only do this once. And yes, this is from experience.

    By the way, are there any real reasons to grab different tips for my Hakko, if I'm almost exclusively using it on guitars?

    Probably not. I only really change tips depending n the size of the thing I'm soldering.

    Not that tips really cost that much. Worth having, you know, just in case
