Then I found this un-routed Explorer body on Ebay for about $100, so I snatched it quick before anybody else did.

I wanted to make it a Hum-Single guitar, but I routed a bit too much so I made it regular Hum-Hum instead.
The neck pocket is tight as shit and I can basically lift the whole guitar even before I've glued it! (yes I will use proper Titebond wood glue for this... not superglue, sorry)

Then I decided... Instead of taking time to cut and rebuild the paddle to fit a regular Explorer hockey headstock... Why not make it a Flying V instead? Faster, and it will look fucking cool too.

The body will be Rocka White and the neck will be tung oiled (with Rocka White front of headstock).
UPDATE 2017-06-25
UPDAET!!!
Neck is glued on.
I'm going to try assembling the hardware and see if I can get it to work before I'm starting with the finish
